UPDATE ON WINTERS CHAPEL SIDEWALK FROM PHIL SADD
The City of Peachtree Corners recently met with Gwinnett County and neighborhood leaders from Lockridge Forest, Spalding Glen and Chapel Glen to discuss plans for the construction of a new sidewalk on Winters Chapel Road.  The meeting was held on location and gave those in attendance the opportunity to hear about the plans for construction.  This project will be managed by Gwinnett County and paid for by SPLOST funds. Construction for the new sidewalk is expected to begin this upcoming week and will take approximately 4-5 months (weather permitting).  Traffic will be impacted during the construction phase due to intermittent lane closures.  To avoid rush hour, lane closures will be limited to the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The new sidewalk will extend from Spalding Drive to the Gwinnett / Dekalb County line.  It will connect to the new sidewalk built by the City of Dunwoody earlier this year which is approximately 100 feet east of Newton Drive.  Through the cooperation of Dunwoody, Peachtree Corners and Gwinnett County working together, this project is the final link in providing a continuous sidewalk from PIB to Spalding Drive on the North side of Winters Chapel Road.  As part of the project, the County will also bring water main lines and drainage up to current code standards along the new sidewalk route. Although the upcoming construction may cause some temporary inconveniences, once finished, the new sidewalk is going to improve streetscape, water drainage, pedestrian safety and provide an enjoyable route for walking.

PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE SEEN WHEN WALKING IN THE DARK
As we drive through the subdivision during the hours of darkness we often see individuals walking their dogs or walking for fitness and they are not very visible. Please understand that drivers can't see you very well in the dark unless you are wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light. We hope you'll heed this advice as it could save you from being the victim of an accident. Thanks.
